The drainage systems in Kirklees is years past it’s sell by date Cllr David Sheard, Leader of the Council must understand
A robust scheme must be planned, and reached by Kirklees, and Yorkshire Water to eliminate the impact of climate change, and the increase of localized flooding effecting homes, and employment areas.
The benefits of such a new scheme of this nature would set the increase of housing supply, and will generate business opportunities for local builders, support local jobs, and will bring brownfield site in to use.
This project will bring benefits on so many levels: creating jobs has the scheme un-folds and delivers its aims, attracting new business in the area creating new jobs, and improving the quality of our places by bringing vacant and derelict sites across Kirklees back into use.
The population across Kirklees Districts will rise more than ever before over the coming years Cllr David Sheard, Leader of the Council must understand the increase of climate change will also rise over the coming years, and if a scheme is not put in place, and delivered development now, and in the future will be put at risk from flooding more than ever before..
We can no longer afford to patch work our drainage system has development applications are approved? I have put-together a short video of a small percentage of drains failing in none significate storm event Aug 2015? Please view the video
